Chain Granny
Instructions are for an 8" Square, but can easily be made into any size you want.
Very light and easy. Would be good with solids as well.

Materials:
H Hook
Variegated Worsted Weight Yarn

Ch 4, join to form a loop
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in loop, ch 3, (3 dc in loop, ch 3) 3 times, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.

Round 2: Sl st to corner, ch 1, [(sc, ch 5, sc) in corner, ch 5] 4 times, join to 1st sc.

Round 3: Sl st in next corner loop, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop, [*(ch 1, 3 dc in 3rd ch of next ch 5 loop) across*, (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.

Round 4: Sl st to corner, ch 1 [(sc, ch 5, sc) in corner, (ch 5, sc in next ch 1 sp) across, ch 5] 4 times, join to 1st sc.

Round 5: Do round 3

Round 6: Do round 4

Round 7: Do round 3

Round 8: Sl st to corner, ch 1, [5 sc in corner, sc in each st ans sp across] 4 times, join to 1st sc. Finish off. Now, wasn't that easy?!?!?!? Oh, yeah, almost forgot, you gotta weave!

NOTE: Can easily be made into any square size you want. If you reach your desired length after repeating round 4, you can 3 sc in each loop and 5 sc in each corner loop. Have fun! Works well changing colors.
