12 inch square made with any two colors you want. |
Materials:
I hook
Two contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn (CA-blue and CB-rose)

With CA, ch 4, join to form a loop
Round 1: Ch 1,(sc in loop, ch 5) 8 times, join to 1st sc.
Round 2: Sl st in next loop, ch 1, sc in same loop, ch 4 (sc in next loop, ch 4) 7 times, join to 1st sc.
Round 3: Repeat round 2
Round 4: Sl st in next loop, (ch 4, 2 trc, ch 3, 3 trc) in same loop, [ch 1, 3 dc in next loop, ch 1, (3 trc, ch 3, 3trc) in next loop] 3 times, ch 1, 3 dc in next loop, ch 1, join to 4th ch of beg ch 4.
Round 5: Sl st to corner loop, (ch 3, 2dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop, [*ch 1, (3dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 2 times* (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 6: Sl st to corner loop, ch 1, (sc, ch 5, sc) in corner loop, [*(ch 5, sc in next ch 1 sp) 3 times, ch 5*, (sc, ch 5, sc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 1st sc. Finish off CA
Round 7: Join CB to any ch 5 corner loop (ch 3, 2dc, ch 3, 3dc) in same corner loop as joining, [*(sc in next sc, 5dc in next loop-shell made) 4 times, sc in next sc,* (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 8: Sl st to corner loop, [(sc, ch 5, sc) in corner loop, (ch 5, sc in 3rd dc of shell**) 4 times, ch 5] 4 times, join to 1st sc.
** You will be skipping 2 dc, 1 sc, 2 dc
Round 9: Sl st to corner loop, (ch 3, 2dc, ch 3, 3dc) in same corner loop, [*(ch 1, 3 dc in 3rd ch of ch 5 loop) 5 times, ch 1*, (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 10: Sl st to corner loop, (ch 3, 2dc, ch 3, 3dc) in same corner loop, [*(ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp) across, ch 1*, (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner loop] 3 times and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 11: Repeat round 10
Round 12: Sl st to corner, (ch 2, 2dc, ch 3, 3hdc) in same corner loop, [hdc in each dc and sp across, (3hdc, ch 3, 3hdc) in corner loop] 3 times, hdc in each dc and sp across, join to 2nd ch of beg ch 2
